The EurolestTM range of ballast exhibits densities up to 4.5 and consists in a pre-blended combination of heavy weight washed ore aggregates pumped like a viscous slurry reaching a typical mechanical strength of 2 MPa within days.  It does not shift in hard sea conditions, stays inside the tanks in case of structure damage and Its passivating properties combined with a pH in excess of 10 prevent bacteriological growth and corrosion of steel structures.

Placement quantities usually range from 100 to 3,000 tonnes with special operations requiring tens of thousand tonnes. Depending  on the access to the tanks to ballast, the ballasting rate averages 300 tonnes per day for complex tank shapes to reach up to 1,300 tonnes for simple and large ones.
